Sometimes it is really hard to adjust to distinct environments especially when living in a socially unpredictable community. Susan Straight knows what this is like growing up in Riverside and using a black spouse. Many of her stories will be about dark family your life.  In Susan Straight's short account " Mines" (2002), the protagonist, Clarette, works in a stressful task dealing with overdue juveniles when trying to stability time for her own children at home; with this, Directly shows the hardships of living two different lives and how that they connect.
